I just need to focus on this moment for a second. I remember saying a few weeks ago that the one thing I want from season four is for Beckett to fight harder for Castle. Beckett has never really had to work very hard for Castle’s attention or his affections. Castle has always put himself out there, not just through his writing but through the things he does for her, personally, and the way he fights for her and puts his life on the line for her. My one wish for this season was that we’d see some kind of reversal in this set up and boom! What does Marlowe do? IDK, but I’m convinced he can see inside my brain. The man is just finding such an incredible balance between the story he wants to tell and the things the audience wants to see. This image of them is so perfect because Beckett’s never looked so uncertain. She doesn’t know how to deal with Castle being so angry with her, all she knows is she wants him not to be. He walks away from her and she goes after him even though she has NO IDEA how to handle this but she can’t just let him go because not having him be a part of her life is now an unnacceptable thing to her. So she sits there and sort of side-eyes him, trying to work out what to say because this time he’s done with words and it’s up to her to fix things between them and it’s so damn beautiful because she’s desperately trying to make it okay. And you see her relief, in that moment when Castle stops being so cold and abrupt and he jokes and then suddenly he’s “her” Castle again and she knows that they’re okay and that - whatever she says later - he’s not gone.
